About TheCalcy

A small, focused set of calculators built to answer one question clearly: what does this number actually mean for my money?

Hi, I’m Kalpesh Patil — I built TheCalcy as a place for straightforward financial calculators, without the clutter, pop-ups, or sign-up walls that most calculator sites bury you in. Every tool here does one job: you enter your numbers, and you get a clear, honest answer.

I’ve spent time building content around personal finance and financial education, and one thing kept coming up — people don’t always need an article explaining a concept, they need a tool that runs the actual math for their specific situation. That’s the gap TheCalcy is meant to fill.

How These Calculators Are Built

Every calculator on this site is based on published, verifiable figures — current IRS tax brackets, official FICA rates, VA and FHA loan program rules, and standard financial formulas. Where the underlying rates change year to year (like tax brackets or mortgage insurance premiums), I keep the calculators updated rather than letting them go stale.

  • Every calculator is checked against the source data (IRS publications, HUD/VA program guidelines, etc.) before it’s published.
  • Formulas and assumptions are explained on each page, not hidden — you can see exactly how a number was reached.
  • Tools are updated when the underlying rates or rules change.
Important: I’m not a licensed financial advisor, accountant, or tax professional. These calculators provide estimates based on public formulas and published rates — they’re meant to help you understand your numbers, not replace advice from a qualified professional for decisions specific to your situation.

Why “TheCalcy”

The idea was simple: a calculator drawer you’d actually want to open. Not one giant do-everything mortgage calculator with forty fields, but small, specific tools that answer the exact question you’re asking — “what’s my real take-home pay in Texas,” not “here’s a generic paycheck estimate that ignores where you live.”
